Fight or Flight: Biobehavioral Stress Responses in Bilingual Children Who Stutter During Everyday Communication Interactions

About This Study

The purpose of this study is to find out whether bilingual and monolingual children who stutter are more susceptible to frequent stress responses in everyday communication compared to peers who do not stutter. We are recruiting children between 5 and 10 years of age to investigate the relationship between linguistic and situational variables and biobehaviral stress responses associated with stuttering. This study will further our understanding of the life experience of stuttering and the mechanisms behind variability in stuttering, and eventually inform improved clinical practices.

Participate!

We are recruiting both children who do and do not stutter. By participating, your child will be provided a free comprehensive speech and language assessment, consultation from a certified speech language pathologist, as well as being provided support and resources. Your contribution to science will help us get closer to better understanding stuttering, leading to better intervention. If interested, please reach out to [email protected]. We look forward to your participation!
